Biography Secondhand Child
When five guys come together to form a band, it doesn't have to be a cheap copy of one of those boy groups that stand in the way of a rocking world. Five guys from Basel (Switzerland) wanted to show that they were different and, over and above the fact that they know how to play, demonstrate to all the women in this world, what real men are like!
Secondhand Child did exactly that in the year 2002.
In that time, these young men decided to rock the Swiss music-scene with their sound, showing what they think rock-music is all about: with their very own style – a mix between Punkrock and Hardcore combined with elements from Metal and Grunge. Back then, they didn't know that one day they would be known under the name of Secondhand Child, but what they already knew was that they'd survive several line-up and name-changes. All of which turned out to be absorbed without any significant problems.
From there, it has been full throttle all the way!
The first small tour started in fall 2002. The crowds loved it!
Their first CD, a three-track demo, was recorded in 2004. The crowds went wild!
Their friends, the swiss metal-combo “Pornchild†said goodbye to the world in 2005. Amongst Pornchild’s illustrious history, the only band ever to fill the position of support act at their very last gig was Secondhand Child!
Since then, they are continually on form, set to bleed through your auditory canals and to ransack your brain cells.
For the boys of Secondhand Child, 2006 has been the strongest year so far. Until April, they played more shows than ever before. Come April it was heads down in preparation for their long anticipated first album “What Do You Live for?“. For this, they were to spend 10 long days grafting at Littlecreek Studios, home of “gurD†masterminds V.O. Pulver and Franky Winkelmann.
One thing is crystal clear. The band brings grunt by the truckload. Enough to cause avalanches on the Gotthard? Perhaps! With their enthused commitment, energy and their very own brand of loud, fast and fiercely expressive music , these five young men have many adventures ahead of them.

Biografie Secondhand Child
Wenn sich fünf Jungs zusammentun um eine Band zu gründen muss das nicht zwangsläufig ein Abklatsch der diversen Boybands sein, welche der Rockerwelt unnötig im Weg standen. Fünf Jungs aus Basel und Umgebung wollten zeigen, dass man auch anders kann und vor allem, dass man Musikinstrumente spielen beherrscht…und ganz nebenbei wollte man der Frauenwelt da draussen zeigen, was richtige Männer sind!
Und genau das taten Secondhand Child im Jahre 2002.
Genau zu dieser Zeit beschlossen die jungen Herren die Schweizer Rockszene mit ihrem Sound aufzumischen und um zu zeigen, was sie unter Rock verstehen: mit ihrem eigenen Stil – einer Mischung aus Punkrock und Hardcore mit Einflüssen aus Metal und Grunge. Zwar war man sich damals noch nicht bewusst, dass man zukünftig den Namen Secondhand Child für sich gewinnt, aber schon da-mals war klar, dass die Band diverse Mitglieder- und sogar Namenswechsel ohne grössere Probleme überstehen würde.
Und das, um danach voll durchzustarten!
Die erste kleine Tour startete im Herbst 2002. Die Menge war begeistert!
Die erste Demo-CD wurde 2004 aufgenommen. Die Massen tobten!
Die Schweizer Metalcombo Pornchild verabschiedete sich 2005 und wer durfte als einzigster Support-Act (!) auftreten? Natürlich Secondhand Child!
Seit dieser Zeit sind sie ständig auf Achse, um Eure Gehörgänge durchzubluten und Eure Gehirnzellen zu durchwühlen.
2006 ist das Jahr für die Jungs von Secondhand Child: Sie nahmen im Littlecreek Studio der gurD-Genies V.O. Pulver and Franky Winkelmann ihr lang ersehntes Debüt-Album „What do you live for?“ auf und schon jetzt ist klar:
Die Band bringt Steine ins rollen – womöglich bringen sie ab und zu die Steinlawinen am Gotthard zum beben – aber das dann mit vollem Einsatz: laut, ausdrucksstark, mit Liebe zu handgemachter Musik und dabei auch noch gutaussehend haben diese fünf Mannen noch viel vor!
