...Cakar or “Mr.Experience†â€When i was four or five years old I snatched a membrane from my brother, put it into a vacuum cleaner and thus designed my first subwoofer.†You can’t separate music from Yasin Cakar. Since the 80s, no screwdriver, no circuit board and no amplifier was safe from him. For 28 years melodies kept buzzing in his head, with a beat always by their side. Even though Cakar didn’t take the straight path. After his A-Level exams, the Datteln native first did an apprenticeship to become a qualified inventory manager. During lunch-breaks he created new rhythms on boxes, chairs and steering-wheels. “Sometimes that was really way-out. My colleagues regarded me as if I had gone mentalâ€, the young Turk remembers. Talking professions, Cakar was quite flexible. He drove a Lorry here and had the odd job there. His break-through as a musician happened about four years ago. As a long-term relationship broke up he set all the energy he had free, flowing into creativity. “I visited many colleagues who had been DJing for yearsâ€, the Oer-Erkenschwick resident tells his story. “Suddenly I got caught. I stood in front of the turntables for days.†Transitions, fade-ins... the whole lot. Days became nights and nights became days. Passion became addiction and brought out what had been slumbering within him all the time. With his first software, Cakar became the master of “strange beatsâ€. He learned fast, very fast. “After a year I got a job to do my first websiteâ€, Cakar smiles. And then everything went quite rapidly. He experimented with live musicians, produced jingles for different film productions, worked regularly for DJs and even creates HipHop-Beats when requested. Cakar doesn’t want to be pidgeonholed, though: “My style is stylelessâ€, he smiles. His main focus is based clearly in the area of Electro, House and Minimal. “But, you know, one always evolves; maybe I will have a totally different sound in ten years.†Cakars goal: To be on one level with the masters of the business such as Daft Punk. “I’d really love to produce with themâ€, he says. Not a totally absurd Idea, as his motto is: “Cakar, you can do it!†© by lastux 08 |
