Not just another rock band. Slave called shiver are part of an emerging force of vibrant Vienna-based rock bands. Soon after their inception in 2006, the female-fronted group began testing the waters on local stages, delivering their unique brand of alternative modern rock to unsuspecting, beguiled ears.
Firstfruits were recorded in the form of a DEMO in October 06, including songs Sexy oui oui, Waiting and Pressure. In 2007 more studio work and live dates are planned.
Those who taste Slave called shiver live are treated to a high energy, emotionally charged journey of eclectic soul-searching songs. Original compositions are imbibed in spirals of melody and drive, sometimes angst inspired, sometimes wide-eyed. Lyrics mix candid confessions with cryptic incriminations.
The band is not shy of jaunts into dizzy pop punk or funk rock here and there, in the style of their many inflluences of indie, nu-metal, alternative, progressive and traditional rock. Comparisons with contemporaries range from Skunk Anansie and Guano apes to Evanescence, No Doubt or Tracy Bonham. Some say the distinguishing feature of this band are Alicia's pipes: she belts, growls, soars and fades at whim. Philipp's sensitive potency, Thomas’s deft thumping and Franz's hyperkinetic energy make a perfect match.
