Let the disaster begin
Kevins Campfire a quite unusual name for a quite unusual band. These guys from Ingolstadt, Germany dont really fit in any category. You will ask yourselves whether their music would be Punk, Emo, Indie or Metal. Maybe Massive Alternative Noise? Whatever stereotyped thinking sucks! Kevins Campfire doesnt want to re-invent Rock but to mix many different styles and influences and finally to define themselves.
Now theyre back - and with them a new bass player, album and live program. It took the three musicians almost a year to finish their first longplay which finally includes 12 tasty samples of more powerful, modern Rock. The name disaster represents the procedure of song writing and recording, which developed during the album production into total chaos. Last not least disaster describes the circumstances of life of all band members in those days and thats why it turned into a central theme for the album.
Some songs were recorded at the band studio in Ingolstadt, others at MCO Studio Munich and AMP Studio Ingolstadt and some even in the living-room of singer and guitarist Olli. The album was produced and mixed (like the previous EPs) by the band and Stefan Eyernschmalz and finally mastered by Alex Klier who worked with bands like Sportfreunde Stiller and Die Ärzte.
The lyrics describe the cultural and social disaster our world is in these days. Titles like disaster, massacre and when disaster ends dont need to be explained. But some songs treat personal moments of joy and sorrow - which may sound horribly sentimental - but they also express a certain cynicism.
In terms of style the music of Kevins Campfire changed into a less disastrous sound though. More Rock less Experiments!
A tour to perform the album will follow in October. |
